From ASIIN to "excellent" status by LAMDIK and LAMSAMA: Experience of Study Programs at FMNS UNY

Lamdik

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMNS) UNY received "year-end gifts" from two Study Programs in the Department of Chemistry Education. The Bachelor of Chemistry study program was successfully converted into superior and the Doctoral Program in Chemistry Education was successfully accredited with excellent status. This is a form of FMNS' commitment to continuously improve their quality.

In 2022, four study programs have successfully converted their accreditation from LAMDIK and from LAMSAMA. The Master of Education in Chemistry program, Bachelor of Education in Chemistry program, and Bachelor of Education in Biology Program at the FMNS UNY succeeded in obtaining an
Excellent accreditation rating from the Independent Educational Accreditation Institute (LAMDIK). Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Program received an Excellent accreditation rating from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA). The Superior Accreditation of the four study programs is the equivalent of international accreditation from Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN). The equalization of accreditation is based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 5 of 2020 concerning Accreditation of Study Programs and Higher Education. Accreditation is valid from 20 July 2022 to 30 September 2025.

Dr. Syukrul Hamdi as head of the Quality Assurance Unit revealed that the conversion of accreditation from International Accreditation to LAMDIK was the first conversion in LAMDIK before the new regulations were implemented. Hopefully in 2023 all Study Programs at FMIPA can be accredited "Excellent" either through conversion or direct submission to an independent accreditation institution.
